Cold Roll Forming Services in India

Buildings, bridges, storage tanks and railways coaches all have one thing in common. They make use of Cold-formed steel (CFS) sections, also known as cold roll sections. These sections are made via a high-speed process where the metal coil is heated and bent into shape by passing it through a series of roll dies. A cold roll section is basically a uniformly long section which can be a sheet, strip, plate or flat bar.

Process of Manufacturing Cold Roll Form Sections

The process of forming cold roll sections is fairly simple. A flat strip of metal is taken as the feedstock material and shaped by using a number of roll tools into the desired profile.

First, a strip of metal is uncoiled. It is passed through a stack of rollers set in a continuous line. As it passed through the roller stacks, each roller adds a form to it.

When the strip reaches the end, it has been formed or moulded into the desired shape. Now, the long strip can be cut into standard sizes for transportation.

For complex shapes, more rollers are added and usually, 45-60 rollers can be placed in a single line to achieve a single cold roll form section. The final shape can be a plate, bar or circular rod.

For metal sections that require to be welded close at the end, laser welding machines are used. Laser and HF welding machines are quite efficient and economic when a large number of complex shapes are to be formed.

The cold-forming process takes place a room temperature, hence the term "cold". The reason is that at room temperature, metal is usually below its re-crystallisation temperature. This can increase the hardness of the metal by 20%. It also has a more aesthetic appeal and higher tolerance than steel formed by using the hot roll process.

Dewas Metal Sections Ltd. (DMSL) started their journey as a manufacturer of shutter lathe sections. Since their inception in 1979, they have expanded to provide specialised Cold Roll sections and a multitude of other products like electrical sections, ERW Tubes and solar sections.

The company has received an ISO 9001-2000 certification and has been producing top-class engineering products for a period of over 40 years. DMSL has 3 different plants located at Dewas, Pune and Ranipet and has established themselves as one of the best cold roll forming company. They supply a wide range of products for many industries like the auto-mobile industry, general engineering, furniture, and storage.
